The Luck of the Irish: Swedish Radio Show Falls in Love with Kildare

Céad mile fáilte! That’s "a hundred thousand welcomes" to our friends from Sweden, who recently descended upon the Emerald Isle to broadcast their popular radio show, Gry Forssell med vänner (or "Gry Forssell with friends" for those who don’t speak Swedish). The team from Mix Megapol, a Swedish radio station with a whopping weekly listenership of over 2 million, chose the stunning Irish National Stud and Gardens in Kildare as the picturesque backdrop for two live editions of their morning show. And, by all accounts, they were thoroughly enchanted by the Irish charm.

As they set up their broadcasting equipment amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Irish National Stud and Gardens, the Swedish journalists were treated to a taste of authentic Irish hospitality. Amanda Kelly, from the Irish National Stud and Gardens, and Sarah Dee, from Tourism Ireland, were on hand to regale the visitors with tales of Ireland’s rich history, fascinating culture, and, of course, its world-renowned natural beauty. The Swedes were hooked from the get-go, and it’s little wonder why. After all, who wouldn’t fall head over heels for a country that’s home to lush green landscapes, rugged coastlines, and some of the friendliest folks on the planet?

The Irish National Stud and Gardens, in particular, seemed to captivate the Swedish journalists. This 1,000-acre oasis in the heart of Kildare is a veritable treasure trove of natural wonders, boasting an incredible array of flora and fauna, as well as the famous Japanese Gardens and St. Fiachra’s Garden. As they explored the grounds, the Mix Megapol team was struck by the serene atmosphere and the sheer diversity of plant and animal life on display. It’s a truly unique experience, and one that’s sure to leave even the most discerning visitor in awe.

But the Swedish radio crew didn’t just come to Ireland to admire the scenery; they were on a mission to immerse themselves in the local culture and share their experiences with their massive audience back home. And, judging by the beaming smiles and lively chatter, they certainly achieved their goal. Over the course of their two live broadcasts, they chatted with Amanda and Sarah about everything from the best places to visit in Ireland to the country’s vibrant music and arts scene. They even managed to sneak in a few questions about the local cuisine – although, we’re pretty sure they didn’t need much convincing to try some of our famous Irish grub!

As the Swedish journalists packed up their gear and bid farewell to their new Irish friends, it was clear that they had fallen deeply in love with the Emerald Isle. And, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t? From the warmth of the Irish welcome to the stunning natural beauty of the countryside, there’s something undeniably special about this little island on the edge of Europe. So, to our friends from Mix Megapol, we say: "Go raibh maith agat" – thank you for visiting, and we hope you’ll return soon. And to the millions of listeners who tuned in to their broadcasts, we extend a hearty invitation: come and experience the magic of Ireland for yourself. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

In fact, Ireland has a long history of welcoming visitors from all over the world, and we’re proud to say that our reputation for hospitality is second to none. From the bustling streets of Dublin to the rugged landscapes of the Wild Atlantic Way, there’s no shortage of amazing experiences to be had on this fair isle. And, with our unique blend of traditional culture and modern charm, you’re sure to find something that suits your taste. So, whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or an adrenaline junkie, Ireland has something for everyone.

As for the Irish National Stud and Gardens, it’s a must-visit destination for anyone interested in nature, beauty, and relaxation. The gardens are a masterpiece of design, with carefully manicured lawns, serene water features, and an incredible array of plant species from around the world. And, of course, there’s the famous Japanese Gardens, which are a marvel of peace and tranquility. But it’s not all about the gardens – the Irish National Stud is also home to a fascinating museum, where visitors can learn about the history of horse breeding in Ireland and see some of the country’s most prized thoroughbreds up close.

So, there you have it – a taste of the Irish magic that captivated the hearts of our Swedish friends from Mix Megapol. If you’re looking for a destination that’s guaranteed to leave you feeling uplifted, inspired, and maybe even a little bit enchanted, then Ireland is the place for you. And, who knows, you might even find yourself falling in love with the Emerald Isle, just like the folks from Mix Megapol did. Until then, we’ll leave you with a wee bit of Irish wisdom: "May the road rise up to meet you, and may the wind be always at your back." Slán abhaile – safe home – and we hope to see you in Ireland soon!
