The Emerald Isle has done it again! County Kildare, the land of lush green hills, rich history, and warm hospitality, has once again opened its arms to a group of students from the Bluegrass State, Lexington, Kentucky. The Kildare-Lexington Student Exchange Programme, a cherished annual tradition, brought together two sets of youngsters from opposite sides of the Atlantic for a joyous ‘meet and greet’ at the esteemed Áras Chill Dara. And, by the looks of it, the craic was mighty!
As the students from Lexington arrived on Irish soil on Saturday, July 12, 2025, they were greeted with the infamous Irish welcome – a warm smile, a firm handshake, and a hearty “Céad mile fáilte!” (a hundred thousand folks welcome you). The Kildare students, fresh from their own adventure in Lexington, were eager to return the hospitality and show their American friends the real meaning of Irish wit and charm.
The ‘meet and greet’ at Áras Chill Dara, the official county building, was the perfect setting for the two groups to get acquainted. Over cups of strong Irish tea and plates of sweet treats, the students engaged in lively conversations, exchanging stories about their respective homes, cultures, and traditions. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter and excitement filling the air as they discovered the many similarities and differences between their two nations.
